STÆR

History of STÆR Company

STÆR was born out of necessity during a moment of global uncertainty.

In the early 2010s, a small group of professionals — with backgrounds in crisis management, international development, financial strategy, and public governance — came together while working on a complex UN-led program aimed at restoring stability and building resilience in vulnerable regions of Eastern Europe. The challenges were immediate and systemic: fragile infrastructure, volatile economies, and governments struggling to adapt to digital demands. The team didn’t just solve problems — they transformed systems.

But they also noticed something deeper: traditional consulting was too slow, too rigid, and too disconnected from the real challenges on the ground. Bureaucracy and siloed thinking often hindered progress. Clients didn’t need more theory — they needed partners who could act fast, think long-term, and stay by their side through disruption.

That’s when the idea for STÆR was born.

Inspired by the starling — a bird known for its precision, agility, and collective movement — the team envisioned a different kind of firm: one that would be adaptive like the organizations it aimed to support and bold enough to rethink how continuity and transformation could coexist.

STÆR began as a boutique consultancy focused on risk and continuity planning for public-sector institutions. Word of its results spread quickly. Within just a few years, the firm expanded across continents, advising national governments, UN agencies, ministries, and multinational corporations on how to anticipate disruption, lead through uncertainty, and future-proof their systems.

As the digital age accelerated, so did STÆR’s capabilities — integrating deep expertise in technology, audit, and transformation to meet the evolving demands of clients in both public and private sectors.

From advising ministries in the Middle East to guiding digital modernization programs in Europe and overseeing infrastructure audits in Africa — our reach has grown, but our values have remained the same: agility, resilience, and long-term impact.

Today, STÆR operates globally through a network of experts in over 20 countries. We are proud to be a trusted partner to governments, international organizations, and forward-thinking companies — helping them stay resilient, act with foresight, and thrive in the face of complexity.
